dog eating food

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, an estimated 56% of dogs in the United States were overweight or obese in 2018. On National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, here are 3 tips to help you keep your pet healthy and happy.

  1. Feed your dog specific portions in the morning and evening. This will ensure they don’t overeat and that they establish a routine around meal times. If you have more than one dog feed them separately so you can be sure each dog gets the correct portion.
  2. Give your dog at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. This should be a brisk walk or jog, not a leisurely stroll. Even better – bring them to play at Dogtopia! They’ll get plenty of daily exercise here with their BFFFs.
  3. Substitute fresh veggies like baby carrots, broccoli or zucchini instead of high-calorie store-bought treats. They’re healthy and economical!
