According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, an estimated 56% of dogs in the United States were overweight or obese in 2018. On National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, here are 3 tips to help you keep your pet healthy and happy.
- Feed your dog specific portions in the morning and evening. This will ensure they don’t overeat and that they establish a routine around meal times. If you have more than one dog feed them separately so you can be sure each dog gets the correct portion.
- Give your dog at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. This should be a brisk walk or jog, not a leisurely stroll. Even better – bring them to play at Dogtopia! They’ll get plenty of daily exercise here with their BFFFs.
- Substitute fresh veggies like baby carrots, broccoli or zucchini instead of high-calorie store-bought treats. They’re healthy and economical!
