Independence Day is just around the corner which means families are stocking up on fireworks. The loud bangs and bright lights may make dogs frightened. Dogs are sensitive to loud and sudden noises. They see that their families are excited and can’t wait to get in on the action either. However, they may not know why you are lighting a stick on fire and that stick becomes a loud bang and bright light.

Try items like sparklers, lanterns, or glowsticks if your dog is attending outdoor activities on the 4th of July.

Some tips to prevent your pup from becoming anxious or being nervous during the firework season: keep your dogs inside and possibly with people they know and trust. Don’t be upset or confused if your dog hides, it is very common when they hear fireworks.

Places in the Charlotte, NC area having fireworks in the next upcoming weeks you may not want your pup to attend: The U.S. National Whitewater Center, Charlotte Museum of History, Charlotte Symphony Chorus, Carowinds, Lowes YMCA, and the BB&T Ballpark.
