Leading Orangetheory Fitness® Operator to Open 15 Dogtopia® Daycare Centers in Oregon
Fastest-Growing Pet Franchise Closes Record Q1 and Starts the Year with Impressive Growth
Dogtopia, the nation’s fastest-growing provider of dog daycare today announced that Jamie Weeks, the leading Orangetheory Fitness operator has joined Dogtopia with plans to develop Metro Portland with 15 locations. This news follows a successful end to Q1 with comparable same-store sales in excess of 22 percent and the sale of 74 new dog daycare centers.
“We are thrilled that Jamie has joined the Dogtopia family. His decision to become part of Dogtopia’s success story lends great credibility and showcases the level of support and sophistication that the team and Dogtopia network deliver,” Dogtopia CEO Neil Gill said. “I feel we’ve reached a tipping point by attracting a growing number of experienced multi-unit operators who are aligned with our vision – to enhance the joy of pet parenthood and enable dogs to positively change our world.”
Weeks is CEO and Founder of Legacy Franchise Partners, a family office that specializes in investing, developing and consulting with franchises around the world. He is also the CEO of Honors Holdings LLC, which owns and operates Orangetheory Fitness studios globally. Honors Holdings LLC currently owns more than 60 studios in the U.S. and U.K. Weeks will remain an operator with Orangetheory, while adding the award-winning dog daycare company to his portfolio.
“When doing our due diligence across dozens of brands for Legacy Franchise Partners’ first investment, Dogtopia was clearly the perfect fit for us and we found there was no other brand in the pet industry who could compare. Between the momentum of the sector and the support that is provided by the Dogtopia family, this is a partnership that we are very excited about,” Weeks said. “We are very thankful that Dogtopia chose us to open and operate 15+ daycares in Metro Portland. As a part-time resident of Portland and an investor in the Portland community, I can’t think of a better area in the country for us to build this brand, or a better community to do it in.”
The Dogtopia family is composed of both single-unit and multi-unit operators, including husband and wife teams, father and daughter/son duos, siblings and many different types of business owners. Whether it’s to own one or several, Dogtopia’s successful business model provides recurring revenue channels for daycare, boarding and spa services wrapped around a flexible and fun lifestyle. While the U.S. pet industry expenditures top $70 billion, the demand for professional pet care services continues to increase and Dogtopia plans to open at least 50 stores in 2019. At Dogtopia, dogs enjoy an open-play environment with protective rubber flooring while promoting safe socialization, exercise and education. Dogtopia’s fees are all-inclusive with meals prepared according to each pet parent’s request at no additional charge, or pet parents can bring their own food. Dogtopia’s webcams also provide pet parents with peace of mind and the ability to check in on their pups when they are away.
