Denver Tech Center Service Dogs

Even Heroes Need Heroes

We are committed to uniting service dogs with military veterans. We do this by generating awareness of the benefits of service dogs, and hosting fundraisers throughout the year so we can help sponsor their training. Thanks to the continuous generosity of our pet parents and community supporters, we're making an impact.

We're honored to highlight our furry, four-legged heroes who have graduated from training as loyal, hardworking companions for the brave men and women who served our country. It's hard work to become a service dog for a veteran and only the best make the cut. The need for service dogs among veterans is great and with your support, we hope to sponsor many more.

Hi there! It's me, your furry friend, wagging my tail to give you a big update! Woof! So, let me tell you how things are going with my training to become a service dog for veterans with PTSD. When we're out and about, I'm getting better at keeping my focus, even with all the exciting things happening around me. Sometimes there are loud noises or lots of people, but I'm learning to stay calm and focused on my trainer. It's like a fun game to me!

When things get overwhelming, like if there's a sudden loud noise, I remember my training and know what to do.  My trainers say I'm doing great and that I'll be ready to help my veteran soon.

I know my training is important because it will help me take care of my veteran when they need me most. I can't wait to be by their side, bringing them comfort and support every step of the way. Thanks for believing in me and helping me on this amazing journey!

Wagging my tail and giving you big, slobbery doggie kisses,

Chas

Woof! It's me, your sponsored service dog, wagging my tail to give you an update on all the pawsome progress I've been making. I've been working really hard on focusing – you know, staring at important things and not wanting to say hello to everyone (although they're quite tempting!).

In public, I'm becoming a real pro. I strut my stuff like a superstar, making my way through crowds with ease. People even stop to pet me, and I try my best to stay focused on my job. It's like being a celebrity in the dog world! My trainers tell me that my progress in public access is helping me become the best service dog I can be for my future veteran friend. They say I'm learning to stay focused and help in different situations. I've got the "stay cool under pressure" thing down! The training isn't just about me, though. It's about being the best buddy for my veteran. They tell me that by mastering focus and handling public places, I'll be the perfect sidekick to help them through tough times. I'm excited to be the hero they need!

Thanks for being my paw-some sponsor. Your support means the world to me (and my veteran friend).

Wags and woofs,

Private

Hi guys!!  I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on my service dog training.

I have been making remarkable progress in my training journey. Over the past few weeks, I have been diligently working on mastering essential commands, my ability to be in public places with ease, and specialized tasks to assist my future handler effectively. I have become very accustomed to crate training and settles for long periods of time. I am walking closely and attentively beside my handler, maintaining proper pace and position with impressive consistency, sitting automatically when my person stops. One of my most significant achievements is the remarkable progress in impulse control. Through reptations and treats, I have learned to resist distractions and impulses, demonstrating patience and self-control even in challenging situations. This achievement is crucial for my role as a service dog, as it ensures I can focus on my tasks and responsibilities despite various stimuli in my warrior’s world. My trainer says my commitment to training reflects my genuine desire to assist and support my future handler to the best of my abilities.

I do have a small tendency to like to say hi to people when they come into a room... and maybe grab things that don’t belong to me… like baseball bats haha! We are working on that with an emphasis on low distraction outings and staying on campus. I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and belief in this awesome little poodle’s potential. Your contributions have played a vital role in my journey, enabling me to reach new heights in training and preparation for this important role as a service dog.

Thank you! Belly rubs and treats,

Polar
