Even Heroes Need Heroes
We are committed to uniting service dogs with military veterans. We do this by generating awareness of the benefits of service dogs, and hosting fundraisers throughout the year so we can help sponsor their training. Thanks to the continuous generosity of our pet parents and community supporters, we're making an impact.
We're honored to highlight our furry, four-legged heroes who have graduated from training as loyal, hardworking companions for the brave men and women who served our country. It's hard work to become a service dog for a veteran and only the best make the cut. The need for service dogs among veterans is great and with your support, we hope to sponsor many more.

Hello, Sponsor Friend! It's Private from K9s for Warriors with another exciting update. I've been busy being a great working pup and spreading my friendly black lab vibes to everyone I meet.
One of my favorite activities lately has been visiting different offices on campus and showing off my skills. It's always a blast to strut my stuff and impress everyone with what I've learned. Plus, working for my trainer is extra rewarding because he always has the best treats as a tasty incentive! I've also been hitting the road for our public access training in the van quite a bit. We've visited outdoor shopping centers, which has a wide variety of stores that my future warrior might frequent. I've been keeping my cool amidst all the hustle and bustle of downtown Jacksonville streets like the confident pup I am.
One of the highlights was a big test we did at a department store. There were customers and employees watching as I showed off my skills. My trainer was really pleased with my performance overall, especially my heeling, down stay duration, stand and brace commands, and various positions like front, side, and under. I'm aiming to improve my sit stay duration, look command, and stay longer on my trainer's lap.
After the test, my trainer told me how proud he was of me, and I couldn't help but wag my tail in delight—especially when I received extra treats!
I'm looking forward to sharing more exciting progress with you in the coming weeks. Thanks for your support, and I'll talk to you soon!
Wags and kisses, Deputy

Polar is a sponsored service dog in training for a Veteran through our Dogtopia Foundation partnership with K9s for Warriors. All proceeds from our weekly treat days, photo parties and other exciting events go directly towards this incredible Foundation! Here is the most recent update on Polar's training:
Polar here, reporting back on my daring feat at Ripley's Believe It or Not museum! I conquered the infamous vortex tunnel with courage and composure, showing no fear as I strutted through its swirling depths. Plus, I got to wear some cool protective shoes to avoid the Florida heat!
As I navigated the tunnel, I maintained my balance with precision and grace, unaffected by its dizzying effects. While some may have found the experience disorienting, I remained steadfast and focused, determined to overcome any challenge in my path. But the adventure didn't stop there! I had a blast exploring the museum's fascinating exhibits, from the oddities and curiosities to the mind-bending illusions. Each display captivated my attention, sparking my curiosity and leaving me in awe of the world's wonders.
Through it all, I wore a wagging smile, reveling in the joy of discovery and adventure. Ripley's Believe It or Not was truly an unforgettable experience, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to explore its mysteries.
Thank you for your support and sponsorship, which allows me to embark on such thrilling adventures and continue my training with confidence and enthusiasm.
Here's to many more fearless escapades ahead full of lots of fun! Talk to ya soon, stay pawesome!

Adelaide is a sponsored service dog in training for a Veteran through our Dogtopia Foundation partnership with Canine Companions. All proceeds from our weekly treat days, photo parties and other exciting events go directly towards this incredible Foundation! Here is the most recent update on Adelaide:
Canine Companions graduation is a special and heartwarming celebration when children, adults and veterans with disabilities receive their service dogs to begin new journeys. This event marks the start of their lifelong human-canine partnerships – so they can live their lives to the fullest. Congratulations to Marcia and Adelaide on their successful graduation!
Your support of dogs like Adelaide means that United States Coast Guard veterans like Marcia can be empowered to regain independence and peace of mind. The love, loyalty and positivity of a canine partner can make a profound, lasting impact on someone dealing with difficult emotions and experiences that are hard to communicate.
The benefits of having a service dog have been immensely helpful for Marcia, even beyond the help Adelaide provides for his symptoms of PTSD. Adelaide is trained to identify Marcia’s signs of anxiety or distress and perform tasks that directly disrupt escalation of symptoms, thus enhancing his quality of life.
Adelaide supports Marcia in crowded public situations by creating a barrier and distance that might provoke anxiety for Marcia. Additionally, Adelaide learned tasks such as nightmare interruption, turning on lights in a dark room and retrieving items to support Marcia’s daily life. In Marcia's own words, “Adelaide will help increase my independence.”
We are proud to provide service dogs to veterans who served our country, free of charge. Canine Companions is grateful to Dogtopia of Denver Tech Center for your significant support in not only making our life-changing mission possible, but also encouraging others to do the same!
