Welcoming a puppy into your life is exciting and can be a little overwhelming. From daily routines and training to nutrition, mindset, and even the spaces we live in, building healthy habits early can make all the difference for both pups and their people.

That’s exactly what we explored in Utah Dogtopia TV – Episode 2, a community-driven conversation focused on puppies, healthy foundations, and real-life support for pet parents.

We kicked off the episode with Cierra Whitlock, our Pet Relations Manager at Dogtopia of Midvale, who shared insight into puppy development, early routines, and how tools like the DASH Activity Monitor help pet parents better understand their dog’s daily movement, play, and rest. DASH provides clear data, has a one-year battery life, requires no subscription, and is designed to support wellness through awareness.

Our first featured segment welcomed Curtis Swenson of The Thought Coach, who talked about limiting beliefs — and how the mindset we bring into puppy parenting can shape everything from patience to consistency. Puppies don’t need perfection; they need leadership, calm energy, and realistic expectations.

Next, Kim Kussman of Nurture Lane Realty shared how our homes can be intentionally designed to support both families and pets. From layout considerations to safe zones for puppies, creating a functional space can reduce stress, prevent accidents, and help routines stick.

We then highlighted Utah’s dog-friendly lifestyle with Brandy & Scout from Dog Friendly SLC, featuring Bambara at Hotel Monaco — a great example of how pet parents can enjoy dining and community while including their dogs in everyday life.

To wrap the episode, Brandy Price of Beyond the Plate offered beginner-friendly nutrition tips for both people and pups. She emphasized that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated — small, consistent choices build stronger foundations over time.

Each segment shared practical takeaways and resources, reminding us that raising a puppy isn’t just about training a dog — it’s about building a lifestyle that works for the whole family.
