Q: Will indoor dog daycare impact my dog’s potty training?

A: Indoor doggie daycare has no negative impact on house training.

Dogs don’t think about inside and outside the way people do.  They view the world around them through smell, sight and sound in a different way.  Their nose will be full of new scents to explore as they meet their BFFFs.  They will see many wagging tails and hear excited yips and words of praise for playing excitedly! Because of the sights, smells and sounds of our indoor playrooms are different from what they experience at home, you don’t have to worry about it impacting your house training.  After 20 years in the business, we can confidently say that open play at Dogtopia does not translate to dogs going potty in the house.

Q: Is it okay for my dog to play inside vs. outside?

A: Indoor playtime can benefit your dog.

Reputable dog care facilities are well-maintained and designed with your dog’s comfort in mind. At Dogtopia of Purcellville, our playroom floors are made with compressed rubber, similar to what you would find in many high-end daycares for children. This special floor is non-absorbent, resists odors, and allows for easy cleaning and excellent sanitation. Also, the rubber is better for the long-term health of dog’s pads and joints than cement, gravel or pebbles.

The weather doesn’t matter. Indoor playrooms are climate-controlled, offering a consistent experience all year long.  It doesn’t matter if it’s sub-zero or sweltering outside; your dog will be comfortable and eager to play.

Your dog is supervised and safe.  At Dogtopia, our rooms are 100% supervised at all times by a staff member fully certified in dog body language and behavior.  We also group our four separate playrooms by the temperament, play style and size of our canine guests, so your pet will not be overwhelmed or bullied by dogs that are larger or more aggressive.

Your dog will benefit from socialization.  Indoor playtime supervised by trained staff allows your pet the opportunity to interact safely with their furry friends.  Dog socialization is crucial for teaching your dog how to act around others, reducing anxiety, building confidence and curbing destructive behavior.

Q: What happens if there is an incident between my dog and another dog?

A: At Dogtopia, we strive to create a safe environment for dogs but we understand that not every dog will get along.

Our team is highly trained to understand dog body language, and if we see that an animal is becoming agitated and aggressive, we will take steps to remove that dog from the situation before it can escalate.  Since our environment is like a child’s daycare, we do acknowledge that the occasional squabble may break out.  That is why we train our team to recognize these situations and remove a dog that may cause a problem with other canines.
