Meet the Team

Jolene & Matt, Owners

Matt and Jolene Urbancic are the owners of Dogtopia of North Austin. Matt and Jolene came to Austin from Ohio in the late 90’s. As their two children prepared to head to middle school, they decided it was time to combine their many years of business experience with their love for dogs. They wanted to provide a place where dog lovers could feel safe bringing their best friends for a day of exercise, fun and care or a place where they knew they would be leaving their dog in safe hands when they went on vacation. Dogtopia, with its award-winning reputation for customer service and cleanliness, was the perfect fit for their vision. Jolene and Matt have two golden retrievers, Bella and Boomer, along with a rescued Chihuahua, Roxy. Jolene is the owner/operator of the facility, working in conjunction with our amazing staff.

Allison Emanus, General Manager

My name is Allison Emanus and I am the General Manager of Dogtopia in North Austin. Before accepting this incredible position, I managed a doggie daycare and boarding facility in San Antonio, TX while simultaneously working towards my bachelors in English from UTSA. While I had no previous professional pet experience prior to my doggie daycare job in San Antonio, what started off as a part-time college occupation quickly developed into a passion for animals and the well being of others’ dogs! I take great pride in striving to create the joyful experiences, stimulating enrichment, and well-deserved relaxation of every pup that walks through our doors; I could not be more thrilled with the opportunity to assist Matt and Jolene in their mission to ensure a safe, secure, and happy environment for the entire dog community of Austin!

Chris Hegarty, Lead Canine Coach

My name is Chris Hegarty, and I am the Lead Canine Coach at Dogtopia North Austin. What that means is that it is my job to get to know all of the dogs (and their parents) that come in to our building. I have a duty to make sure that all of our furry friends have the best experiences that we can give them in our playrooms, and that their parents are as comfortable as possible leaving them in our care.

I am originally from New Jersey, where I lived for 29 years, before moving to Texas in October 2017. I have been working in dog daycare for 5 years, and was hired at Dogtopia in January 2018. Since joining Dogtopia, I have worked alongside our team to build the best possible daycare experience in Austin, and I think we are doing pretty well!

As for the future, I’m open to any possibility that allows me keep working with my furry little friends, whether that’s continuing in daycare, or training, or whatever – as long as I have dogs around me, I’m a happy camper!

Alex Lawson, Customer Care Specialist

Hi! My name is Alex and I am the Customer Care Specialist at Dogtopia North Austin. Before my time with Dogtopia I graduated with a Computer Science degree from Concordia University in Austin, TX.  I have been with this great company for about a year and a half. My primary responsibility is to facilitate an efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable introduction to Dogtopia. From the first phone call to the Meet & Greet and then the post evaluation follow up, my responsibility is to ensure that our new customers feel welcomed and at ease. I also provide data to management regarding client satisfaction. I am incredibly blessed to be working for Austin’s premier dog daycare and boarding facility.
