New Pet Parent?

If this is your pup’s first time at Dogtopia, there are a few things pet parents should prepare prior to rewarding your dog with the most exciting day ever!

As Dogtopians, we're a unique breed, we love and care for your pup like our own furry family.

At Dogtopia, our passion is giving every single dog the best-individualized care with their health, safety, and comfort as our top priority! Our home away from home environment is the perfect place for your pup to learn, play, and socialize with their BFFF (Best Furry Friend Forever).

Meet the Team

Jolene & Matt, Owners

Matt and Jolene Urbancic are the owners of Dogtopia of North Austin. Matt and Jolene came to Austin from Ohio in the late 90’s. As their two children prepared to head to middle school, they decided it was time to combine their many years of business experience with their love for dogs. They wanted to provide a place where dog lovers could feel safe bringing their best friends for a day of exercise, fun and care or a place where they knew they would be leaving their dog in safe hands when they went on vacation. Dogtopia, with its award-winning reputation for customer service and cleanliness, was the perfect fit for their vision. Jolene and Matt have two golden retrievers, Bella and Boomer, along with a rescued Chihuahua, Roxy.  They are proud of their award-winning staff and the great customer experience the team is known for in Austin.

When they are not working and playing at Dogtopia, Matt and Boomer are a certified complex-environment pet therapy team through the Dog Alliance.  As a team, they regularly visit local hospitals, schools, businesses and colleges, bringing stress relief and the chance to get some “golden love” from Boomer!

Allison Emanus, General Manager

My name is Allison Emanus and I am the General Manager of Dogtopia in North Austin. Before accepting this incredible position, I managed a doggie daycare and boarding facility in San Antonio, TX while simultaneously working towards my bachelors in English from UTSA. While I had no previous professional pet experience prior to my doggie daycare job in San Antonio, what started off as a part-time college occupation quickly developed into a passion for animals and the well being of others’ dogs! I take great pride in striving to create the joyful experiences, stimulating enrichment, and well-deserved relaxation of every pup that walks through our doors; I could not be more thrilled with the opportunity to assist Matt and Jolene in their mission to ensure a safe, secure, and happy environment for the entire dog community of Austin!

Chris Hegarty, Lead Canine Coach

My name is Chris Hegarty, and I am the Lead Canine Coach at Dogtopia North Austin. What that means is that it is my job to get to know all of the dogs (and their parents) that come in to our building. I have a duty to make sure that all of our furry friends have the best experiences that we can give them in our playrooms, and that their parents are as comfortable as possible leaving them in our care.

I am originally from New Jersey, where I lived for 29 years, before moving to Texas in October 2017. I have been working in dog daycare for 5 years, and was hired at Dogtopia in January 2018. Since joining Dogtopia, I have worked alongside our team to build the best possible daycare experience in Austin, and I think we are doing pretty well!

As for the future, I’m open to any possibility that allows me keep working with my furry little friends, whether that’s continuing in daycare, or training, or whatever – as long as I have dogs around me, I’m a happy camper!

Cristi Cruz, Lead Float

Hi, I’m Cristi and I’m the Lead Float here at Dogtopia North Austin! My Float team does a little bit of everything, but our main focus is conducting your pup’s Meet and Greet. We’re here to guide you through that first day, and ensure your pup always has The Most Exciting Day Ever! We also provide spa services to keep your pup looking fresh!

I’m originally from Houston but raised here in Austin, TX. My husband Mike and I have 2 dogs of our own; Rhett is a Catahoula Cattle Dog mix, and Shiva is an American Staffordshire Terrier. I went to college for Creative Writing but there weren’t any dogs there so it didn’t work out! I have been in the Animal Care industry since 2011 beginning with volunteering and eventually being hired at a local animal shelter in 2014. I finally found what I need to be doing with my life. Since 2018 I have been working in the dog daycare/boarding side of things and found a second home at Dogtopia. I can’t even express how fulfilling it is for me to be with dogs everyday, building that bond and helping them have fun in a safe way. There’s no better reward for all our hard work than sloppy dog kisses and tail wags!

Katlen Davis, Lead Front Desk

Hi! My name is Katlen. I am the Front Desk Lead here at Dogtopia North Austin. The day I interviewed I knew this was the beginning of my lifetime career path. As front desk lead, I am usually the first face your pup sees! I strive to make that first interaction as welcoming and exciting as possible.

I moved to Austin, TX from Lubbock, TX in August 2019 and almost immediately started working for Dogtopia. Outside of work I spend my days with my own fur babies; Finn the Shiba Inu, Mira the Husky and Amor the Tabby Cat. Nothing is more fulfilling than watching them grow and learn every day. In the future, I plan to study animal behaviors and work with dogs in need. Until then, I am so proud to be a part of the Dogtopia North Austin team!

Brookie O'Brien, Pet Parent Relationship Manager

My name is Brookie! I am the Pet Parent Relationship Manager at Dogtopia North Austin. It is so exciting to represent the 2019 FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR and working alongside the 2019 GENERAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR!

I was born & raised here in Austin, and I truly believe it is one of the greatest cities on Earth! Outside of Dogtopia, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Zach, and our two dogs, Rocky & Ollie.

Getting to know each of the dogs that come into our facilities is very rewarding, but an even greater reward is knowing that our pet parents feel safe leaving their precious pups in our care.  A HUGE responsibility in my role is to ensure that pet parents are having a positive experience. As a dog mom myself, I understand first-hand how there isn’t a price tag that can be put on the safety and happiness of our fur babies. I will strive to give you the customer experience you deserve, and I will strive to give your pet the enjoyment, safety, and FUN they deserve as well.
I will be a welcoming go-to when it comes to all things questions, follow-ups, scheduling, education, & comfort. I’m so extremely proud and excited for what Dogtopia has to offer, and I hope you will be too!  Let’s have the most exciting day ever!
