Dog Training

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our daycare is expanding to include dog training services, and we’re hiring a certified dog trainer to lead the program. Positive reinforcement is our focus, and we do not use aversive tools like prong/pinch collars, shock/e-collars, or punishment-based methods. Group classes will be led by the trainer, who will also coach pet owners and help dogs improve obedience, socialization, and behavior in a safe, engaging environment.

The training room is available during weekday evenings (after 6 PM) and weekends. In addition, the trainer will work with management to set the class schedule, allowing flexibility for different class types and times. Because the service is new, client growth may start slowly, but the program benefits from a busy daycare with an existing client base, which makes growth realistic. Furthermore, the position allows you to help shape and expand the training program over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES – TRAINING DUTIES

We are looking for someone who can:

• Run group training sessions for dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• Guide pet owners through positive reinforcement techniques and at-home training strategies
• Review dog behavior and create customized training plans
• Ensure a safe, engaging, and positive environment for dogs and owners
• Keep the training area clean and organized
• Support growth by helping expand and improve our training classes
• Document progress and share feedback with pet parents after each session

REQUIREMENTS – TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered, candidates must be a certified dog trainer with at least 2 years of professional experience. Experience teaching group classes is required, and strong communication skills are essential for coaching pet parents. In addition, patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude are necessary for working with a variety of dogs and owners.

COMPENSATION

50% commission
