I know it’s only September… but ask my girlfriend—it’s officially pumpkin season.

And honestly? I’m not mad about it.

Pumpkin isn’t just cozy fall vibes. It’s a nutritional MVP loaded with fiber, vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. It supports digestion, boosts the immune system, and keeps things running smoothly—for both humans and dogs.

So this week, I made a batch of pumpkin dog treats for my pup, Mabel. They’re simple, healthy, and packed with flavor. Mabel’s a bit of a snack snob, but these? Total hit.

🐾 Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/3 cup natural peanut butter (no xylitol)

  • 2½ cups whole wheat flour (It’s more nutritious than white flour, with fiber, protein, B vitamins, and minerals)

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional…cinnamon is safe for dogs in small amounts—like the ½ tsp in this recipe. It can help with inflammation, blood sugar control, and even freshen breath. Just don’t overdo it, and avoid nutmeg, which is toxic)

💡 I used Buddy Budder—an all-natural peanut butter made just for dogs. No preservatives, no weird stuff—just quality ingredients for your four-legged BFF. It’s made by Bark Bistro, and they take “Happy Dog, Happy Life” seriously.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix pumpkin, eggs, and peanut butter until smooth.

  3. Gradually stir in flour and cinnamon until a dough forms.

  4. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick and cut with cookie cutters (bone-shaped if you’re feeling cute).

  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.

  6. Let cool before treating your pup!

A Little Story: Mabel’s Taste Test

I made these on a quiet Sunday. The kitchen smelled like fall—warm, nutty, comforting. Mabel sat patiently by the oven, tail thumping like a drum. The second they cooled down, I handed her one.

She sniffed. Took it gently. Then bolted to her favorite rug and devoured it like it was the best thing she’d ever tasted.

She came back and sat—no command, just hope in her eyes. Safe to say: they’re Mabel-approved.

Add pumpkin to your week—for you and your pup. It’s a simple way to boost health and enjoy the season, one tasty bite at a time. 🍂
