đ Wellness Wednesday: The Power of Pumpkin
September 10, 2025I know itâs only September⌠but ask my girlfriendâitâs officially pumpkin season.
And honestly? Iâm not mad about it.
Pumpkin isnât just cozy fall vibes. Itâs a nutritional MVP loaded with fiber, vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. It supports digestion, boosts the immune system, and keeps things running smoothlyâfor both humans and dogs.
So this week, I made a batch of pumpkin dog treats for my pup, Mabel. Theyâre simple, healthy, and packed with flavor. Mabelâs a bit of a snack snob, but these? Total hit.
đž Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Ingredients:
-
1 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
-
2 eggs
-
1/3 cup natural peanut butter (no xylitol)
-
2½ cups whole wheat flour (Itâs more nutritious than white flour, with fiber, protein, B vitamins, and minerals)
-
½ tsp cinnamon (optional…cinnamon is safe for dogs in small amountsâlike the ½ tsp in this recipe. It can help with inflammation, blood sugar control, and even freshen breath. Just donât overdo it, and avoid nutmeg, which is toxic)
đĄ I used Buddy Budderâan all-natural peanut butter made just for dogs. No preservatives, no weird stuffâjust quality ingredients for your four-legged BFF. Itâs made by Bark Bistro, and they take âHappy Dog, Happy Lifeâ seriously.
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a bowl, mix pumpkin, eggs, and peanut butter until smooth.
-
Gradually stir in flour and cinnamon until a dough forms.
-
Roll out the dough to about Âź inch thick and cut with cookie cutters (bone-shaped if you’re feeling cute).
-
Bake for 20â25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
-
Let cool before treating your pup!
A Little Story: Mabelâs Taste Test
I made these on a quiet Sunday. The kitchen smelled like fallâwarm, nutty, comforting. Mabel sat patiently by the oven, tail thumping like a drum. The second they cooled down, I handed her one.
She sniffed. Took it gently. Then bolted to her favorite rug and devoured it like it was the best thing sheâd ever tasted.
She came back and satâno command, just hope in her eyes. Safe to say: theyâre Mabel-approved.
Add pumpkin to your weekâfor you and your pup. It’s a simple way to boost health and enjoy the season, one tasty bite at a time. đ
