4th of July Safety Tips
Did you know more dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day in the year? Loud noises, big crowds, and bright lights can startle and disorient dogs. Here is a list of things you can do to keep your pup safe over the holiday this year.
- Get some energy out – Take your pup for a long walk or game of fetch
- Check ID tags and microchip Info – Make sure all information is accurate
- Ensure collar is properly fitted – Only 2 fingers should fit comfortably underneath
- Prepare a frozen treat – A stuffed KONG or pupsicle can help ease anxiety
- Stock calming aids – Have an anxiety vest, pheromone sprays, or vet-prescribed medications on hand
- Shut windows, blinds, and doors – Reduces noise and prevents escapes
- Create a small, cozy space – Include favorite toys, bed, blanket, and water
- Play calming music – Check out the Nap Time Relaxation Mix on Dogtopia’s Spotify!
- Avoid going outside – Take your pup out for potty breaks before or after peak firework times
Book your overnight stay to ensure your pup is comfortable, calm, and surrounded by friends while you enjoy a stress-free holiday! Spaces are limited and filling fast!
