Located on Halstead Rd in beautiful West Bloomfield, the Karner Farm dog park is a great place to bring your furry friends to play. In addition to the dog park, this historic farmstead includes a barn, community gardens, a gravel parking lot, porta-john, and expansive wetlands.

Dog parks are a great option to socialize your dog.  Owners love that their pup has room to run and gets fresh air, and dogs love the experience of being outdoors.  However, with outdoor dog parks there’s always the chance of rain, snow, heat, or bugs ruining the experience for both owner and dog.  When a dog park isn’t your best option, indoor off-leash socialization is a great choice to keep your dog healthy, happy, and well-adjusted.  When your dog is up-to-date on vaccinations and is spayed/neutered and well behaved, they will be a welcome addition to our group play at any of our Dogtopia of Michigan locations.

Registration for the Off Leash Dog Area (OLDA) is in-person only (you do not need to bring your dog) at the Recreation Activities Center.  OLDA registration will be taken during regular business hours, Monday – Friday. The annual fee is $30 for residents and $60 for nonresidents and is not prorated.

To register, you MUST bring the following:

  • Proof of up-to-date Oakland County Dog License.
  • Proof of up-to-date, current vaccination, must include Bordatella, at the time of registration. (this ensures the safety of your dog, much like we do at Dogtopia dog daycare)
  • Proof you are a West Bloomfield Township resident in order to receive the resident rate. (Driver’s License)
  • Registration will not be permitted if the county dog license, vaccination papers and driver’s license do not match exactly.

On July 24, 2014, the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission approved a motion to allow nonresidents to become members of the OLDA. The cost is $60 for nonresidents and will be capped at 50 permits annually.  The same rules and registration policies listed above apply to nonresidents.
