While young puppies may adjust more quickly, all dogs experience three important phases after adoption. To set your newly adopted dog up for success, we require that they spend at least 30 days in their new home before being introduced to Dogtopia.
Decompression (First 3 days)
Your dog may feel overwhelmed, nervous, and unsure of their surroundings. At this stage, they are not yet comfortable enough to be themselves and need extra time and patience.
Learning Routine (around 3 weeks)
By this point, your pup begins to recognize your household schedule and daily patterns. They start to relax, feel more secure, and let their guard down.
Fully Acclimated (3+ months)
At this stage, your pup feels completely at home! They’ve built a strong bond with you and gained confidence and security in their new household.
