In addition to our wellness-based activities, Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge holds occasional doggy photoshoots that are often themed to match a specific event or holiday. We bring out backdrops and props that make for the most adorable pictures! We also organize bubble parties that take place in our playrooms where bacon- and peanut-butter-flavored edible bubbles make for delectable treats pups can chase and chomp on. Our team will let you know about themed crafts or special treat days scheduled throughout each month that you can opt to add to your dogs’ time with us.

Whether your pup is here for daycare or staying overnight, they’ll be placed in one of our four spacious indoor playrooms, thoughtfully assigned based on size, temperament, and play style. From tiny social butterflies to big playful goofballs, we make sure every dog is in the right group so they feel comfortable, confident, and ready to have fun.
Our playrooms are designed with your dog’s health and happiness in mind. We use compressed rubberized flooring to support hip, joint, and paw health with a softer, more comfortable surface that’s easy to move on. Each playroom is separated by sound-reducing, floor-to-ceiling walls, helping limit distractions and create a calmer, more focused environment.
Because comfort matters year-round, our facility is fully climate-controlled, maintaining a steady 65–70 degrees no matter what Colorado weather brings. Our advanced HVAC system continuously circulates clean air throughout the building, helping reduce odors and maintain a fresh, comfortable space for your pup to play, rest, and make new friends.
Cleanliness is a top priority at Dogtopia. Every playroom is deep cleaned twice daily using dog-safe, chemical-free products. Throughout the day, our team uses a bio-enzymatic cleaner to quickly and safely handle any accidents. All of our cleaning standards and protocols are approved by Dogtopia’s on-staff Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist, so you can feel confident knowing your dog is spending their day in a space that’s safe, sanitized, and sparkling clean.
Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge has earned certification status as a Heroes for Healthy PetsTM facility. The Heroes for Healthy PetsTM Certification Program in Infectious Disease Management provides training for preventative care, including strategic vaccination, and cleaning and disinfection protocols to help maintain disease-free facilities and keep pets healthy. Your pup is cared for by our highly trained Canine Coaches, who supervise every play session to ensure dogs stay safe, happy, and engaged throughout the day. Our Coaches are experienced in working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and play styles, and are trained to read canine body language—knowing exactly when a dog needs a break, extra support, or encouragement during socialization.
Every Coach completes Dogtopia’s comprehensive four-part training curriculum, approved for continuing education credits by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). This ensures our team is equipped to safely manage group play while maintaining the highest standards of care.
As your dog visits more often, we get to know their unique personality and track their progress over time. Pet parents also receive periodic report cards highlighting behavior, development, and the new friendships your pup has made—because at Dogtopia, personalized care is part of the experience.
DAYCARE “MUST-HAVES”
To maintain a safe facility, we require that pups meet the requirements to join our Dogtopia family:
- At least 12 weeks old
- Spayed or neutered if seven months and older
- Non-aggressive and not food- or toy-protective
- Up-to-date vaccination record that includes Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as “distemper/parvo”) administered at least 48 hours prior, though seven days prior is preferred
- No communicable conditions (including ticks or fleas) and in good health for the last 30 days
YOUR FIRST VISIT TO OUR FACILITY
All dogs who enter Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge must pass our Meet & Greet assessment. This is one of the very first things we check off our list, as we want to ensure all pups find our space beneficial. This assessment is a chance for us to get to know you and your dog and recreate some of the elements of daycare so that we can observe how they respond.
Our trained evaluators will perform a nose-to-tail wellness check, which helps us determine if your dog is comfortable with staff interaction and touch. We’ll also review their health history to ensure all necessary vaccinations are up to date. From there, we’ll create a daycare test drive which includes the following:
- Mini play space: We’ll bring in a couple of like-minded dogs to assess how your pup responds to others. During this time, we’ll observe their body language, how they interact, and if they are intrigued and curious by our playroom environment. We want our facility to be a comfortable space for all pups, but we recognize it’s not for every dog.
- Crate test: Since our facility uses home-style crates during naptime and overnight, we want to ensure they feel comfortable.
From there, our team will review their observations and let you know if daycare at Dogtopia of Wheat Ridge is a good fit at this time. If given the go-ahead, your dog can start daycare immediately. However, if we feel it is not the right environment for your pup, we encourage you to return at a later date when they feel a bit more comfortable being around others.
