Home sweet home away from home where I can have my own blanket and doggie personal space.

Heading out of town on business or taking a well-deserved vacation? As much as you would love to bring your furry family member with you, it may not be possible. Whether you need to leave your dog overnight or longer, we offer several boarding options.

Staying overnight at Dogtopia provides your dog with a safe and dependable place to stay while they get a full day of exercise, education, and socialization at daycare. With our overnight stays, daycare is included; we don’t nickel and dime you. Your pup can enjoy our house food, and we will be sure to administer medications as required for no extra fees!

HOW DOES DOG BOARDING WORK AT DOGTOPIA OF Houston - Waugh Drive?

We consider our overnight stays at our facility like a mini staycation where your furry friend will have the Most Exciting Day Ever in our care. All boarding dogs enjoy a full day of play, where they will form bonds with their BFFFs (Best Furry Friends Forever) as they socialize and mingle in the playroom. They will also engage in mind-stimulating brain games that allow them to flex their problem-solving muscles and participate in our occasional playroom bubble parties that keep their paw-eye coordination strong as they chase deliciously edible, pet-safe bubbles around their playroom. Our facility holds monthly themed events, including special treat days, photoshoots with props and backdrops, and more. It’s never a dull moment around here!

Your dog will remain active throughout the day as they engage in fun agility-focused exercises that keep their paws (and tails) moving in our off-leash, open-play environment. Although we incorporate some necessary downtime at different parts of the day, all pups still rack up to 60,000 steps in a day, which is a great sign that they’re boosting their cardiovascular health and strengthening their muscles—both key aspects of a healthy doggie life.

At night, pups have their own private home-style crates and sleep next to their furry friends in the same playroom they spent the day in, so they don’t feel lonely or isolated. Knowing their BFFFs are nearby helps prevent anxious feelings. However, after a full day of play, they will likely be more focused on drifting off to dreamland!

Here’s a quick rundown of our typical boarding schedule:

  • Opening until noon – Our furry guests can explore their playroom and communicate with each other as they play on our secure play equipment and structures, engage in our team-led activities, and more.
  • Noon until 2:00 p.m. – It’s time to recharge those playtime batteries! Pups will use this time to eat and nap.
  • Until closing – After an afternoon of play, our daycare goers will be picked up while our overnight dogs will get ready for dinner and catch some Z’s.

Many of our pet parents opt for their pups to take a trip to our fully equipped doggy spa before being picked up. After all, what says “staycation” more than pampering? Our spa experts provide a range of services, including baths, nail trims, teeth brushing, and more. Adding these treatments to their stay can help them look and feel fantastic. It’s also a great way to stay on top of their hygiene habits.

If you have any questions about what your furry family member’s day will look like, use our online general inquiry form, and a member of our knowledgeable team will reach out.

Please note that all dogs must enroll in at least three days of doggie daycare before they stay overnight. That way, they can feel calm and comfortable in our space and understand that you will always be back to pick them up.

DOG PLAYROOMS IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

We made thoughtful decisions when designing our facility to ensure our boarding dogs feel safe and comfortable, setting us apart from our competitors. We have four separate playrooms for small to large breeds and those that fall somewhere in between so that we can separate dogs based on their size, temperament, and playstyle. We want each pup to feel confident interacting with their canine pals to help create a positive experience; keeping dogs that match each other’s fun vibes together is a big help.

Each playroom has flooring made from compressed rubber, which is gentle on paw pads and supports healthy hips and joints. To minimize distractions, the playrooms are separated by soundproof, floor-to-ceiling walls. We have also installed double-barrier doors to provide an extra layer of security between the playrooms and our main hall.

We also offer playtime fun outside in our secure outdoor play area. This space is ideal for those sunny Houston days, and our pups love having fun chasing their fellow playroom pals in a spacious outdoor setting.

Despite offering some outside time, we are a primarily indoor facility, which means we can control the climate. Using our advanced HVAC systems, we can maintain a comfortable playing temperature. No matter the weather conditions outside, we know playtime is always on the itinerary. This system also circulates fresh air, filtering out harmful particles, like a home air purifier, so dogs breathe in clean air during their stay.

The cleanliness of our space is a top priority, and we adhere to the strict cleaning guidelines set by Dogtopia’s Environmental Biologist and Veterinary Scientist. We deep clean all playroom surfaces twice a day using dog-safe, chemical-free cleaning products. Your pup will never encounter harmful substances, including harsh fumes, during or after cleaning. We use a bio-enzymatic spot cleaner for immediate potty accidents, keeping the environment safe and sanitary for all our furry guests.

Being away from your dog, whether it be a couple of hours or a couple of days, is not always easy. That’s why we’ve equipped advanced HD webcams in each playroom (including our outdoor space) so that you can watch your dog throughout the day and see their happy smile and wagging tail—a reassuring sight! You can access our pet-parent-only stream using Dogtopia’s app (available for Apple and Android) or website.

We can’t describe our playrooms without telling you about our incredible team of Canine Coaches who treat every dog at our facility with the same care and attention they would give their own pets. Having completed a four-part training curriculum, recognized for continuing education credits by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, they are skilled in understanding dog body language and behavior. This expertise allows our Coaches to actively assess the playroom they’re in, observe interactions, and respond appropriately, ensuring your pup is in qualified hands throughout their stay.

Our Coaches are the fun-starters, activity leaders, and positive reinforcement enthusiasts who help make sure your pup has a tail-wagging good time. They are responsible for monitoring the health and wellbeing of all the furry guests in our care and want to see each pup grow into an even greater Canine Citizen.

FIRST THINGS FIRST—THE DOGTOPIA MEET & GREET

Before booking your dog’s overnight stay at Dogtopia of Houston - Waugh Drive, they must pass our Meet & Greet. During this 20–30-minute assessment, our team will start getting to know your dog, answer any questions you have, and confirm that our facility is a good match for your furry friend.

Our evaluators will first conduct a wellness check on your dog, which includes reviewing their health history and performing a nose-to-tail check to assess any touch sensitivities. We will then create a small play area with dogs similar to yours to observe their interactions. We consider this like a daycare test drive, as we’ll also evaluate their comfort level in our home-style crates, where they will sleep in at lunchtime and overnight. By the end of our assessment, we will either give you the OK to pursue daycare before booking their staycation or suggest you give your dog a bit more time before returning for another attempt.

Although all dog breeds are welcome at our facility, there are some requirements that every pup must meet to become part of the Dogtopia family. They include:

  • Must be at least 12 weeks old
  • Spayed or neutered if they are seven months or older
  • Free of any communicable conditions (such as fleas, ticks, etc.)
  • Show no signs of aggression or possessiveness over toys
  • Must have an up-to-date vaccination record, including Bordetella, Rabies, and DHLPP/DHPP (also known as distemper/parvo)
