Pittsburgh Grooming

Squeaky clean, smelling fresh & looking like a million bones.

We are thrilled to announce that we are introducing grooming services at Dogtopia of Pittsburgh – Eastside! Our groomer, Michael Lewis will be starting 1/20/2020!

Michael Lewis started working with dogs professionally at age 15. He started his career at The Plush Pup, located on Reynolds St. in Point Breeze, where he trained as groomer’s assistant. Michael trained under Judy Rohal and Ginny Hildebrand. He credits these two hard-working mentors with instilling him with a love for dogs and inspired him to learn the dog grooming craft.

Michael spent an entire summer bathing, drying, combing out, and cutting toenails on many different breeds of dogs. After high school, he ventured into graphic design, going to school at night and working by day at odd jobs. Fortunately, Ginny called and had an opening at her new shop which she opened after her days at the Plush Pup. She opened her shop, Poochinis in Point Breeze, and Michael began his intensive training to become a professional dog groomer. He learned haircut patterns that are standard for certain pedigree dogs, the art of hand scissoring, as well as general grooming techniques and haircuts used to make dogs look their best.

Now at 39, he has over 11 years of grooming experience under his belt. He is thrilled to be a part of our team and is excited for the opportunity to continue bringing smiles to the faces of our clients who entrust us with their dog’s grooming needs.
