You’ll see our simple requirements, what happens during your Meet & Greet, and how we help new dogs build confidence in a supervised, open-play environment. Many dogs jump right in. Others need a slower start. Our trained Canine Coaches meet new dogs every week and are skilled at helping them acclimate safely.
Get started in 3 easy steps:

Schedule your Meet & Greet (guided evaluation plus a quick facility walkthrough).
-
If your dog is comfortable, stay for a complimentary trial daycare day to learn the routine. If not, we’ll start smaller and build up.

What is a Meet & Greet and why do I need one?
While we love all breeds and personalities, not every dog is suited for an off-leash, open-play environment. We take our doggie guests’ safety very seriously, so each Meet & Greet consists of 20-30 minutes with our trained evaluator to ensure that your pup is a good fit for daycare. It will include a health history overview, a nose-to-tail assessment, and an evaluation of their comfort level with other dogs in a controlled mini-play area. The process is very easy and ensures all dogs are comfortable at Dogtopia – we look forward to getting to know you and your furry family member better! Please note: All dogs must be at least 12 weeks of age AND current on required vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP/DHPP and Bordetella). Dogs older than 7 months must be spayed or neutered.
Dogtopia requirements:
- Vaccines (required): Rabies, distemper (also called DAPP/DHLPP), Bordetella. No records handy? Share your vet’s info and we can request documentation.
- Newly adopted dogs: A short settling-in period at home often helps before starting daycare. We’ll advise you based on your dog’s situation.
- Age and spay/neuter: Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old, and dogs 7 months and older must be spayed/neutered.
- Health and temperament: Dogs must be in good general health and free from contagious illness and comfortable around other dogs.
*Your dog can stay on their meet and greet day so they have time to sniff us out and get use to the routine here. Doing some daycare before their first overnight stay will ensure their comfort during the stay.
MEET & GREET
ensuring a confident Start
Every new dog begins with a Meet & Greet before daycare or boarding. It’s a guided first visit where we learn your dog’s comfort level and set them up for success and go over all new pet parent info.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Plan on about 30 minutes. During the visit we will:
-
Review vaccination status and a few questions about home routine
-
Do a quick nose-to-tail wellness and handling check
-
Introduce your dog gradually to a small, well-matched group
-
Watch body language, stress signals, and play style
-
Recommend the right playroom based on size, energy, and temperament
What you leave with:
-
Approval for any future daycare and/or boarding and all new pet parent info pamphlets.
-
Immediate access to the Dogtopia App – watch live webcams and make future appointments.
-
A personalized plan specially tailored for your dog’s personality, energy level, and needs
FOR SHY, ANXIOUS, OR SELECTIVE DOGS
Not every dog is ready for a busy room on day one. That’s normal. If your dog is cautious with new people, overwhelmed in new places, or selective with other dogs, we slow it down and build confidence step by step. You can trust our certified Canine Coaches to help your dog build more confidence with each visit.
After you schedule your Meet & Greet, you’ll receive information to access your online dashboard where you can:
-
Upload vaccination records (or submit your vet’s details)
-
Review and sign the Pet Parent Agreement
- View live playroom webcams
-
Book future daycare, boarding, and additional services
TRIAL DAYCARE (COMPLIMENTARY)
Most dogs settle faster once they’ve experienced a full, structured day. If your dog is comfortable after the Meet & Greet, they can stay and this first daycare day is complimentary.
A trial day helps your dog:
-
Sniff us out: throughout the day they explore their new playroom, meet other dogs at their pace, and get to know their new canine coach.
-
Build familiarity with the schedule including rest break, building, sounds, and other staff
-
Create positive associations before an overnight stay
At pickup: we’ll give you a report card and clear recap of how your dog acclimated, how introductions went, and which playgroup suited them best. You’ll have this chance to ask any questions and make sure you have all the new pet parent info.
