  • What is a Meet & Greet and why do I need one?

While we love all breeds and personalities, not every dog is suited for an off-leash, open-play environment. We take our doggie guests’ safety very seriously, so each Meet & Greet consists of a free trial day of daycare with our trained evaluator to ensure that your pup is a good fit for daycare. It will include a health history overview, a nose-to-tail assessment, and an evaluation of their comfort level with other dogs in a controlled mini-play area first. Then they will be tested in the playroom with the other dogs for the day! The process is very easy and ensures all dogs are comfortable at Dogtopia – we look forward to getting to know you and your furry family member better! Please note: All dogs must be at least 12 weeks of age AND current on required vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella). Dogs older than 7 months must be spayed or neutered.

Dogtopia requirements:

  • Up-to-date on vaccinations (including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella and Canine Influenza)
  • Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old AND fully vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella and Canine Influenza.
  • Dogs 7 months and older must be spayed/neutered.

*Newly adopted adult dogs should be in their new home for at least 30 days to get comfortable in their new surroundings.

MEET & GREET

GETTING READY FOR THE MEET & GREET:

Once your Meet & Greet appointment is set and confirmed by our team, you will receive an email to log-in to your online dashboard and begin the registration process. This is where we get to know more about you and your dog, vaccinations can be uploaded by you or our team and you can review and digitally sign our Pet Parent Agreement. Then you’re ready!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We are primarily operating by curbside service and are scheduling drop off Meet & Greets! Your dog will spend the day with us so they have plenty of time to be evaluated and get acclimated. You can either use the curbside feature on the Dogtopia app to drop your dog off for their Meet and Greet, or can come into the lobby on their first day! You will have access to our webcams and will be able to watch your dog while they are here! We schedule our drop off Meet & Greets at 6am, 6:30am, 7am, 7:30am and 8am. It is best for new dogs to arrive early, so it is not as overwhelming for them and it sets them up for success! All new dogs need to stay until at least 2pm for their Meet & Greet day, but can stay as late as 8pm!

When you pick your dog up, please use the curbside feature on the app to notify us that you have arrived. We will bring your dog out to your car for you, and will give you a full update on how they did! The only thing you will need to bring for your dog on their Meet & Greet day is lunch in a Ziploc baggie, if you would like them to eat during naptime from 12pm-2pm! It is not required for you to bring food for your dog, but it is an option if you would like them to eat during the day. We do not accept bedding, toys, bones/chews or bowls. We have everything we need on hand! We will also use our own slip lead to take your dog in and out, we do not typically take personal collars, harnesses or leashes. Of course, if you are concerned about that and prefer us to take your dog with their own personal leash, collar or harness, we can do that for you! We are not able to take dogs with jackets, sweaters or bandanas.

EVALUATION INCLUDES:

  • Wellness check
  • Response to staff touch/interaction
  • Comfort level in a crate – crates are used for rest, naptime, boarding, feedings and administering medication when applicable
  • Reaction in “open-play” setting with other dogs of varying size, breed, and temperament
  • Overall observations

The process is very easy and there is nothing to be nervous about at Dogtopia – we just want to get to know your pup better!
