Hurricane Prep for Dog Daycare and Boarding Parents
July 29, 2025
Hurricane season is well underway in South Carolina, with the peak months for storms in August and September. We want our pet parents to feel confident knowing your pup is in good hands. At Dogtopia of Summerville, we have a weather plan in place—and in nearly two years open, we’ve never had to close due to a storm.
Here’s how you can prep on your end:
✅ Update Your Emergency Contact
Especially for boarding and even for daycare visits, it’s a good idea to have an up-to-date emergency pickup person on file—just in case you can’t make it back in time to pick up your pup.
🌦 Remain Flexible with Your Daycare Days
Worried about weather keeping you home? You can always use your daycare days earlier or later in the week to avoid the storm.
📆 Switch to a Monthly Wellness Plan
If you’re on a weekly Wellness Plan, consider switching to a monthly plan (even temporarily). Monthly plans give you the flexibility to spread out daycare visits throughout the month instead of committing to a set number of days each week. That can be helpful when the weather is unpredictable.
