Temecula Service Dog

Even Heroes Need Heroes

We are committed to uniting service dogs with military veterans. We do this by generating awareness of the benefits of service dogs, and hosting fundraisers throughout the year so we can help sponsor their training. Thanks to the continuous generosity of our pet parents and community supporters, we're making an impact.

We're honored to highlight our furry, four-legged heroes who have graduated from training as loyal, hardworking companions for the brave men and women who served our country. It's hard work to become a service dog for a veteran and only the best make the cut. The need for service dogs among veterans is great and with your support, we hope to sponsor many more.

MEET OUR SERVICE DOGS

Name:

Andy

Service Dog Organization:

K9's for Warriors

Graduation Date:

02/24/2022

Andy is our 1st sponsored Service Dog for a Veteran through our Dogtopia Foundation partnership with K9's for Warriors.

We started raising funds for our 1st Service Dog in February of 2021 with dedicated daycare events and fundraisers to reach our goal. It was challenging at times, but our Pet Parents and Dogtopia Foundation supporters stepped up to help us reach our goal of $6,000 by December 2021. We selected K9's for Warriors as our partner based on their mission for adopting adult dogs from Animal Shelters to train as life partners for Veterans. We were driven to the organization based on 2 things: 1) Saving a shelter dog to give them a strong purpose in life and 2) Success rate for transition from shelter dog to service dog.

We were assigned Andy in January of 2022 and he was at the top of his class, finishing his training in less than two months! Andy moved through his training so quickly! Typically the training process takes quite a bit longer. But it is obvious that Andy was meant for this job and he was so quickly up for the task! K9's for Warriors shared weekly progress reports from Andy himself as he underwent the many stages of his training. He was placed with his Warrior, Marissa when he graduated in February of 2022. The turn-around from shelter dog to Service Dog is truly a beautiful moment we are so proud to be a part of!

To learn more about Andy, Marissa and their journey together, we have a book proudly displayed in our lobby!

We started raising funds for our 2nd Service Dog in February of 2022 with dedicated daycare events and fundraisers to reach our goal. We want to give a huge shout out to our Pet Parents and Dogtopia Foundation supporters who help us reach our goal of $6,000 by March 2023.

Here is out most recent update from K9s for Warriors: "Hey friends from K9s! My name is Fred, and I like to cuddle and take naps. I have been practicing my cues and getting exposed to all of the sounds and sights of this big world I live in. Today I went to Publix and got desensitized to the sounds of products on shelves which initially startled me but by the end I didn’t care about it. I really enjoy learning and having fun as I go with my handler. I look forward to updating you on where I go next and what I learn. Until then, Fred the Stud! "

Stay tuned for more of Fred's progess in his hero journey!
