Boarding isn’t Boring
Recently my parents went out of town and I was left to spend a few nights at Dogtopia of Jacksonville Beach Blvd. I go there almost every day for day care and really have a great time. I actually have a special girlfriend. It really is #the most exciting day ever. I have learned to play hard, make friends and follow directions most of the time. #Every dog deserves daycare. It took me some time to learn the ins and outs of daycare but once I understood I was all in.
Let me tell you what I learned:
• If you want a friend, you have to be a friend. I often share the cot with others and find it relaxing.
• Playing hard is terrific. I know how to wrestle, roll, and just run hard.
• Following directions is important, I respond to my name, I can sit for a short time and I know rushing the door is not a good idea.
• Resting at lunch is a good idea – I play hard and when it’s lunch time I am ready for a break.
• Staff care about me and each pup at Dogtopia. The staff keep our area clean. Staff know each of our names and talk to us with respect. Staff give good simple directions all pups can follow and most importantly they love us with praise and pets.
• Staff taught me to walk on a lead, go in a crate and be comfortable with my collar being touched.
• At the end of the day, I go home tired with a good report for my parents.
Now I can talk about boarding – day care was a preparation to get me ready for boarding. First, I get to choose between a suite and a crate (we call them a house.) We get to bring our own bedding so no matter where I sleep it is like being at home. A pup can bring their own food. A pup can also have treats as long as its okay with their parents. Bringing one’s own food helps keep the stomach from being upset. At night when a pup goes to bed we can cuddle up with a favorite toy. The staff are so kind to the pups, once I closed my eyes I didn’t realize I wasn’t home. I spent the night dreaming about the next day at daycare.
The boarding schedule is made just for dogs. After all the daycare dogs go home, we are fed our evening meal. We spend time in our rooms (suite or crate) and then let out to relieve ourselves. We get to run and pay for a while and the staff shower us with love and affection. All the pups are than put in their rooms and its lights out until morning.
Staff arrive early in the morning and all pups are let out to take care of their toileting needs. We are given breakfast and rest while it digests. When staff arrive, they have a personal greeting for each pup. The7 love you, praise you and make you feel so very safe. It really is a home away from home. Next thing you know, all ones friends are coming in and we’re off for another #most exciting day ever.
So why Boarding
• You are never alone – you are part of a pack, of pups and people
• You are loved unconditionally
• You are always safe
• You get to play as hard as you can
As great as boarding is and the great care you get at Dogtopia – it is tail wagging good to see your Parets when they come to pick you up, love you and take you home. Until my next boarding visit or day of day care I get to enjoy the comforts of home.
