Embracing Autism Acceptance: Dogtopia’s Commitment to Inclusivity and Employment Opportunities

One of the noble causes supported by the Dogtopia Foundation is actively employing individuals with Autism.  April is Autism acceptance month.  The CDC tells us that April is designed to raise awareness, to promote autism acceptance, celebrate neurodiversity and individual differences and continue to advance inclusivity and connectedness throughout the community.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability. People with Autism often struggle with social interactions and learn in unique ways. These individuals are often misunderstood and treated unkindly. This often makes employment opportunities a challenge.  Dogtopia of Jacksonville Beach Blvd. is committed to meeting this challenge.

Dogtopia of Jacksonville Beach Blvd. employs several individuals with ASD. One of those individuals is affectionately called our “Dog Whisperer.”  There is no dog he does not love.  Dogs and people alike respond to his kind and gentle spirit. Our pups universally love our canine coaches on the Autism Spectrum.

Several of our employees on the Autism Spectrum tell me that they would rather work with dogs than people and they interact with dogs with grace, kindness, humility, and love.  Dogs respond to all these individuals with trust, warmth, and love.

We salute those with Autism during this month of Autism acceptance.  We welcome them as part of our Pack.  We are committed to developing learning paths to assist those with Autism so that they can be successfully employed by Dogtopia of Jacksonville Beach Blvd.
