In general, the answer is “not usually”. If you or your dog has a “cold”, you cannot transfer it to each other. But there are certain intestinal parasites, skin diseases and other “zoonotic” illnesses that could be transferred from dogs to people. People who are immunocompromised should always consult their physician about the risk factors associated with dog ownership.
