Dog training PROGRAMS – Madison, WI
We offer Canine Citizen Good Citizen testing, group classes, private dog training, and play & train experiences that can be added on to any daycare play or boarding stay. We offer your first training consultation completely free!
Our Training Team is managed by a CPDT-KSA Dog Trainer and CBCC Behavior Consultant. Each member of the team is either certified themselves or eligible and waiting to sit for the certification exam. We employ methods and principles of dog training that adhere to the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) training framework. LIMA methods put your dog’s wellness first, using tools and techniques that minimize undue stress, anxiety, and fear for ethical and humane techniques. Positive reinforcement is our teams’ first line of teaching and is applied consistently. Positive reinforcement is associated with the lowest incidence of aggression, attention seeking, avoidance, and fear in learners. To read the Association of Professional Dog Trainers position statement on LIMA, please go here.

Stay & Train
Often times referred to by others as a “board & train” or “immersion training” experience, a Stay & Train is where you place your dog in Dogtopia’s care for two or more weeks during which our professional dog trainers will work with your pup on everything from basic obedience to behavior modification. Our Stay & Train boarding experience is all inclusive, including social & emotional enrichment beyond the training itself. Your dog won’t know they’re at boot camp. From their perspective, it’s the best summer camp they’ve ever been to! Everything is transparent. With our web cameras and daily reports, you will be able to see, with your own eyes, how much fun their learning is. We also don’t end our relationship at check out. You will be provided with resources and support to ensure that your dog is able to successfully continue with their new skills at home, where it counts, and that you feel confident reinforcing and continuing their training so that it sticks! Every Stay & Train includes lifetime access to our Training Team. Completing your Stay & Train at Dogtopia means that your dog can return for daycare, overnight stays, grooming, or additional training with the same trusted team that they learned from and who cared for them the first time around.
